Omnis in the Cloud
Greetings to all,
Who has implemented Omnis remote form apps using a cloud architecture? How would the SQL statement be run — from the Omnis SQL statement or by calling functions in the postgres database?

Hi Martin,
I do not understand. An Omnis remote form is per se in the cloud.
Maybe I do not get it. How do you define a “cloud” in this respect?

End user clients are saying to me they have all their applications running in their cloud servers in remote locations. They are asking me if my Omnis application can be setup in that cloud server and the users/employees can login the application from their devises?

Martin,
Ok. Let me define the cloud then: It is a server that is somehow hosted from a bigger or smaller brand. If you want to host the Omnis application on that cloud you would need to find a cloud server that allows you to install an Omnis server runtime and the database you want to use.
Does that make sense?

Hi Martin,
Short answer is yes!
The long and more complicated answer is that you can setup Omnis to run on a cloud service, and you setup a jsClient to handle login and application framework etc. You can then host your database and application “in the cloud”. If your Omnis app is setup for Desktop, then you’ll have a bit of work to convert it to a cloud-based solution. That’s the situation we find ourselves in now.
We’re working on a solution. We’ve developed a framework for our application that works on desktop, tablet and mobile, and we’re creating jsClient forms that have the same functionality as our desktop windows.
