Learn JavaScript Web & Mobile App Development for FREE in the Omnis Academy

If you want to learn how to create JavaScript Web & Mobile Applications, easily and quickly, then Omnis Studio is the perfect tool, and the Omnis Academy is the perfect place – and you can do it all for free, without obligation.  The Omnis Academy provides 6 courses designed to cover different aspects of web & mobile app development, starting with the “Omnis Studio Basics” course, which as the name suggests, introduces you to the basic concepts of designing an application as well as showing you the main tools in Omnis Studio – the “Basics” course is ideal for those new to Omnis Studio, but is also suited to existing Omnis developers who want to learn more about the new features in the latest version of Omnis Studio 10. The full range of courses in the Omnis Academy includes:

  • “Omnis Studio Basics in Developing Web and Mobile Apps” – learn how to create example remote forms, with a UI supporting web and mobile devices; see more details below.
  • “Omnis Studio Database Connectivity” – find out how to connect to a SQL server database, using table classes, the Omnis Query builder, and session pools.
  • “Developing a Messenger App in Omnis Studio” – learn to create a messenger app using a “speech bubble” interface and push notifications.
  • “Implementing a menu system” – create a logon for a web application, create a role based access system, create a menu system based on these access rights.
  • “Implementing a REST Service Client and Server” – learn how to access a RESTful interface (API), plus you can allow your Omnis app to provide data for other applications.
  • “Develop Standalone Mobile Apps” – create an app that will run without a connection and can be synchronized later, plus find out about the Omnis JavaScript wrappers.

Start with the “Basics”

The Omnis “Basics” course helps you get started with Omnis Studio, quickly and easily – you will learn the HTML File structure required to build your JavaScript Web & Mobile apps, and the remote classes you will need (forms and tasks). During the 90 minute online course you can work through the steps needed, or you can just sit back and watch our expert trainers – you will create an example JavaScript Remote Form, containing different UI components, supporting different screen resolutions, suitable for display on Web or Mobile devices – all from one code base created in Omnis Studio 10. Other areas covered in the “Basics” course include: handling events, sending messages, client executed methods, and using CSS & themes. The Basics course is being held on the following dates:

  • October 6 – English 4:00 pm EDT
  • 13 October – Deutsch 10.30 Uhr, English 3:00pm CEST

Expert Trainers

Our trainers are very experienced and knowledgeable in Omnis application development: Andreas Pfeiffer in our German office is a Senior consultant and has consulted for many leading companies in Europe on large Omnis development projects – plus he is a fluent German and English speaker. Jeramy Jeffereis in our New York office has a wealth of experience supporting customers across North America and is now consulting on development projects. Depending on the course you book, you’ll get to meet one of these friendly guys, or one of our other great Technical or Consulting staff. All the courses in the Omnis Academy are available in English and German, and in different time zones including CET and EDT (and there are courses in Italian and Spanish, delivered by our Omnis partner Software Products Italia SoftPI.com).
